Working with State Partners
During the 2020 legislative session of the Maryland General Assembly, County Executive Ball worked with the county’s state partners to secure $8.25 million in funding for the Ellicott City Safe and Sound Plan. In addition, the county executive testified on the following legislation:
HB 78/SB 172: Sponsored by Delegate Courtney Watson and Senator Katie Fry Hester, this legislation will alter the criteria for determining the use of funds in the Bay Restoration Fund to make flood control projects an eligible use of funds.
HB 539/SB 457: Sponsored by Delegate Watson, Senator Hester, Senator Guy Guzzone, and Senator Lam, as well as legislators from across the state, this legislation allows a local government to create a Resilience Authority.
